An interesting thing growing up on the west coast is that there can be a real disconnect from your southern bloodline. I grew up in southern California but have roots in Texas, Louisiana, North Carolina and Virginia. Because of the distance my family was not close and until my adulthood I didn’t know the rich history of my family or the places they called home. Inspired by my family tree and new found love for folklore I decided to create this podcast. The Afro Tales Podcast is our way to explore the versions of folklore told be those melinated people that were brought to the Americas. I have made up my mind to share every collected store on this podcast and therefore on this site. I thank you for visiting, learning and sharing with me.

Lavar Burton

Literature is indispensable to the world. The world changes according to the way people see it, and if you alter, even by a millimeter, the way a person looks at reality, then you can change it.

James Baldwin

Words mean more than what is set down on paper. It takes the human voice to infuse them with deeper meaning.

Maya Angelou

Let’s share something together.
